Why UK Soul Choirs take PRIDE!

We PRIDE ourselves on inclusivity...the purpose of our choirs is to enjoy singing together and, along the way, we all have the privilege of meeting people from all walks of life with different preferences and lifestyles. We embrace, celebrate and value EVERY member of our UK Soul Choirs family!

'What a privilege it was to perform at Canterbury Pride this year.
Pride is always a wonderful experience, joyous, fun, happy, supportive and all encompassing.
Unfortunately, every day of the year doesn't always fulfil that same feeling of acceptance. Like most minorities I face prejudices and challenges with being a gay woman .....not to mention being black, which adds another layer of complexity.  
Out of ALL of that, what is consistent throughout the year is my choir family, it is very similar to PRIDE, welcoming, fun, joyous and above all, inclusive. A space where I feel safe and supported, both mentally and physically. My happy place !!!

Fingers crossed we get to perform at Canterbury Pride again next year ....watch this space!'

'It’s always a great experience singing with the choir as it so much fun and so good for your mental health. It was especially uplifting to be singing at Canterbury Pride this year, which had such an amazing all inclusive atmosphere and felt like a very safe place to be.

Choir is like that, it’s a welcoming inclusive place for everyone from all walks of life, all ages and all levels of singing ability.

As an older gay woman (who came out in the 70’s when things were very different) I really enjoy being part of and belonging to Choir.
