This term's chosen charity, Globalgiving
Raising money for charity has always been at the core of UK Soul Choir's mission. We’re a community organisation, so as well as bringing people together through song, we use our performances to raise awareness and funds for various organisations and charities over the past 13 years. This term, we have chosen to support Global Giving’s: UK Cost-of-Living Crisis Relief Fund - a recommendation from Gemini, one of our Mid Kent Choir members.
Global Giving is an organisation that makes it easy and safe for you to give to local projects anywhere in the world, while providing charities and not-for-profit organisations with the tools, training, and support they need to thrive.
The UK is facing the worst cost-of-living crisis in 50 years, with millions of people earning a wage that doesn't meet actual living costs. This crisis is plunging households across the UK into hardship – more than 1.4M people are facing absolute poverty. This is in addition to 14M people already living in poverty.
We’ve decided to donate to this charity as any funds we can raise will help to support those most in need, equipping them with food and shelter. As we know, mental health can often be tested, particularly when experiencing real hardship, and music has been proven to massively help support wellbeing. Two of the charities, who have received a grant from the GlobalGiving fund, are London based youth music charities and they help young people struggling in communities cope through their work.
The donations we raise will help provide vital lifelines to local organisations and communities at the current time of crisis, allowing all the support organisations to fund resources needed to support and protect the most vulnerable.
We’ll be collecting at most of our events this Summer Festival Term. Please take a look at our Event's page and join us at our Soulful Summer performances – a great day out for all to enjoy whilst supporting a very important cause.
We’d be so grateful for any support you can give.....as always - we hope to see you there!
