'Finding your Voice' Workshop with Abi Gilchrist - KENT

This 2 hour workshop (with break) is the ideal starter course for anyone who has never had any singing training, or would like to learn more technical aspects of the voice in order to improve their skill.

The ‘Finding Your Voice’ Workshop will cover:

· Breathing and breath control

· Warming up / cooling down the voice

· Range and Register

· Posture and Body

· Support

· Tone and Placement

· Intonation (tuning!) and Harmony

Founder and Director of the London Soul Choirs, Abi trained as a soprano on a scholarship at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and ENO’s The Knack Programme for opera. She completed her BMus at Goldsmiths College writing her degree dissertation on Vocal Production Technique and trauma. She then went on to train in Musical Theatre at the London School of Musical Theatre and has studied the renowned Estill Singing Technique.

Abi founded UK Soul Choirs in 2010 which now has 14 branches in London and the SE - including Canterbury and Whitstable. Since 2021 Abi has been the Principal Vocal Coach at London School of Musical Theatre and she is also a member of professional session choir London Voices and can be heard singing on many Hollywood movies such as Disneys Pinocchio, Thor - love and Thunder and Spirited. She can also been seen singing on the 2022 M&S Christmas TV advert and can be heard daily singing the theme tune of CBeebies ‘Do You Know?'

Abi believes almost ANYONE can sing….and certainly EVERYONE can improve (and in a very short time too!) and singing can enhance musical ability and provide confidence in every aspect of your life.
