Abi Gilchrist

Founder of UK Soul Choirs, soprano Abi is a highly respected professional vocalist, choir leader and voice coach. Abi runs The Whitstable Monday, Greenwich Tuesday and Ramsgate Thursday sessions and also works extensively around the country and Internationally, performing and working with individuals and choir groups of all genres.

Abi Gilchrist is a highly experienced and versatile vocalist and teacher. She trained on a scholarship as a classical soprano at the Guildhall School of Music, followed by London School of Musical Theatre. She is trained in Estill and also Accent method breathing.

Abi has been teaching singers at all stages of their development and career and has particular expertise in vocal technique and vocal health.  She founded UK Soul Choirs in 2010 and brings her wealth of experience and passion for singing to all the choir branches either in person or as mentor. She also travels the country giving her own technique workshop ‘Finding your Voice’ to choirs and singing groups of all levels as well as teaching singing technique at top UK drama college London School of Musical Theatre.

You can hear Abi singing in her show Miss Kiddy and the Cads (www.misskiddy.com) in which she has performed all over the world as well as on ITV’s This Morning and Loose Women. Miss Kiddy and the Cads launched their debut album ‘Vintage Dirtbag’ in 2020 at Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club.

Abi also sings for a many sessions and on TV and film soundtracks, and can currently be heard singing the theme tune on CBeebies shows‘ Do You Know and Maddie, The Zoo / Space and You’. She is also as the voice of National children’s music classes and book series Monkey Music.

UK Soul Choirs is a professionally run inclusive community choir operating across South East London and Kent. There are no auditions, and no experience is necessary to come try us out. Members get to learn and sing great songs each week and perform with professional musicians in an end-of-term performance. We offer fully inclusive online learning resources, a community-led social programme and a range of membership plan options to suit member's different priorities.
